Louis Marx and Company, founded in New York by Louis Marx and his brother David, became the world's largest toy manufacturer by the 1950s, producing tin and plastic toys, playsets and mechanical vehicles. Sold to Quaker Oats in 1972, then Dunbee-Combex-Marx in 1976; its last US plant closed in 1980.
