Johann Distler KG, founded in Nuremberg in 1895, started with inexpensive "penny toys" and grew into a major lithographed-tinplate manufacturer of cars, planes, trains and mechanical figures by the 1920s-30s. Postwar, became known for electric toy trains and a finely detailed electric Porsche 356 model (from 1955). German production ended in 1962.
