Research notes
in 1937, Malcom Campbell broke the speed racord with Bluebird K3, powered by a Rolls Royce K engine, exceeding 130 mph; the first version of the toy (based on the Blubird version of 1932): 1937-1940, with 3 exhaust "pipes"; the second version (1940-1948) had a single strip orange exhaust (cost 10'6); third version: 1950-1967, w/ silver exhaust (ours); version 4: 1978; our toy is version 3, but the box looks older, perhaps from the second version, since the cost of repair is 5'
